      How to use the shikakai to wash your hair
      If you will be using it as shampoo the use of shikakai is very simple. It is a matter of preparing by mixing this Indian powder with lukewarm water. Once the mixture is prepared, it must be massaged on the hair and on the scalp just like a shampoo.and scrub gently for around 2 minutes . Don’t overdo it! Even though shikakai foams up, it is not soap. Your hair will not feel the same way it does when you wash with shampoo. Leave to act for a few minutes and rinse with warm water.

      In the traditional use of shikakai, with reference to Indian women, the use of washing powder is preceded by a massage of the scalp with coconut oil or castor oil. The oil is left to act for 2 or 3 hours. Then you switch to a compress or shampoo with the shikakai, to remove the oil.

      Mind you, your hair will be clean, but it will also retain most of its natural oils so during the first few days, your hair might feel a tad rough to the touch. This can be fixed easily by applying conditioner or a little bit of oil to your hair after you shower.
